Distributed Platforms with a Central Node

Working with identity and communities that live within a social network are what gets me excited about this announcement from Facebook.
In this announcement, Facebook says they are going to allow developers to port some permissions of Facebook’s sandbox to other sites(they have allowed you to do most of this for a little while I’ve been told, but now it should be a whole lot easier). In thinking about mobilizing audiences inside and outside of Facebook, this would appear to be a great opportunity for platforms to engage with Facebook.
How about a developer creating a platform outside of Facebook and knowing that you can tap into people that are interested in the platform? These people can carry their identity from Facebook into it. While at the same time messaging their friends at Facebook through their profile and feed that they have joined a new community…. outside of Facebook. In many ways, it is Beacon for the developers that are building applications within Facebook. They now have the opportunity to mobilize their audiences and point them in any direction they wish while marketing and implementing their apps outside of Facebook.
