TV

I was watching a little Tucker Carlson tonight. The charismatic guy in the bowtie who talks about how Bush has to please the libertarians and start vetoing some of these bills that are coming on his desk if he ever wants to stop gorging money. Yep, that is the fiscal problem in this country, we are creating too many social programs, screw the poor, lets build some more warheads.

But why wouldn’t we listen to this guy who was born into a family where his step mom was Patricia Carlson, heir to the Swanson frozen-food fortune. A man who, attended Trinity College in Connecticut for four years without obtaining a degree. Carlson describes his college experience thus:

“After four years, I had met a lot of interesting people, gone to a couple of classes and restored a motorcycle, and that was it. And so I wasted my time at college.”

And who said of Canada:

“Canada is a sweet country. It is like your retarded cousin you see at Thanksgiving and sort of pat him on the head. You know, he’s nice, but you don’t take him seriously. That’s Canada.” [Dec-2005]

(Side note: The show did have a cool sidebar that resembled a tabbed-browsing feature that let you see what the show would be discussing. The show was not live, why couldn’t I skip to another part? Frustrating…)

So that upset me a little, but the kicker was in watching this show called Dog. Dog is on A&E! I remember A&E as a channel that was full of great documentaries and biographies. Dog is about an andro-driven family taking out pregnant women who have skipped bail.

The whole issue with the spying in the news, Tucker, and Dog made me think of this song I have been listening too lately. The following are some of the lyrics from Adam Freeland’s Essential Mix.

Man lecturing into a speaker:

Go back to bed, America, your government has figured out how it all transpired. Go back to bed America, your goverment is in control again. Here is American Gladiators, here is 56 channels of it! Watch these pituitary retards bang their fucking skulls together and congratulate you on living in the land of freedom. Here you go America - you are free to do what we tell you! You are free to do what we tell you!

Chorus:

We want your soul
Your passion, your house, your phone, your wallet
We want your soul
